How about a festival devoted to one of the things Chicago does best, Hot Dogs!
If you’re into the arts, you picked the right neighborhood to rent in during the summer. Lakeview East Festival of the Arts brings you local performers and exposes you to the possibilities of the city. The 46th Annual Chicago Pride is a two-day street festival that brings together local food vendors, artists and performers and ends with a giant parade! Taste of Lakeview happens in Lakeview, as well. It is a two-day gathering of food trucks, live music, and, of course, local beer vendors.
Chicago is home to amazing cuisine, and Andersonville likes to show that off. So, why not join in on this year’s Taste of Andersonville Dinner Crawl. Twenty restaurants, lots of new people and new foods – it’s a great way to welcome yourself to the neighborhood. Midsommarfest is one of Andersonville’s larger street festivals, and this will be the fiftieth year running for the festival. The festival features great food, family entertainment, ethnic dance troupes and great bands.
Many famous past and current Chicagoans call home and for good reason. Great attractions like the South Shore Cultural Center, the Lakeshore and even a golf course there is so much to do. Make sure to check out the South Side Expo. It’s an HGTV sponsored day-long event in July that is perfect for new Chicago Renters! If you like jazz make sure to visit the Hyde Park Jazz Festival in the adjacent neighborhood.
Well known for its artist lofts and five-star restaurants the West Loop is home to some fantastic festivals as well. Next month Neighbors of West Loop is hosting the West Loop Craft Beer Festival with brewers from all over the country. 2015 the West Loop gets a new festival – the West Loop Art Fest. The West Loop are festival will feature many different artists, great food and drink and live music. When mentioning West Loop festivals you can’t forget Taste of Randolph Street. With an incredible line up of musicians and the opportunity to try out many of the restaurants on Restaurant Row without a reservation you surely don’t want to miss Taste of Randolph Street.
Grant Park is well known for hosting amazing festivals. It’s home to the foodie festival, Taste of Chicago, and it is also home to the world’s largest free blues festival, the Chicago Blues Fest. Finally, aside from being a truly gorgeous park, Grant is also home to the three-day musical festival, Lollapalooza. You don’t have to drive for hours to get your music fix – just walk down the street and enjoy your favorite bands in your backyard!
